Today marks the official start of the 3 days Carnival celebration before the Lenten Season starts.
On this part of The Netherlands, people look forward to the festivities and even take days off from work to celebrate. Since we just recently moved to this region, it is going to be my first time to witness this much sought after occasion.
I have some photos taken during a parade when the Prince of Carnival was chosen in Maastricht and would like to share them with you.
If you think the pictures are fun and colorful, wait until the parade of the real deal comes out. That parade will be today, but I will have to work. I will however do my best to catch the last few bits so that I can take some really lovely shots to share with you. Would you like that?
Here's what I have for now..
Even the train station is decorated accordingly!
Are you celebrating carnival where you are? How do you celebrate?
Let us know.
Lots of love,
Jo xoxo
Nice photos! Where we used to lived, we celebrated carnival of flowers during Spring, as the name suggest there's a parade of floats filled with colourful flowers, a showcase of ancient cars, float competition and they'd have the actual carnival itself with all the rides and plush toys to win and what not. I think the carnival only lasts for 2 days.. but there were other mini events throughout the week.
ReplyDeleteI love the festive vibes, looking forward to see photos of the next parade!

Hi Vivi,
DeleteThat flower parade sounds amazing! I had to work last Sunday so when I arrived the parade just finished and I missed the whole thing. :-(
