For this week’s Throwback Thursday entry, I would like to
recall our stay at the Sheraton Dusseldorf Airport. This is where stayed before
we took off for Tunisia. You can see my post on my holiday in Tunisia here.
We took the train from the Netherlands to Dusseldorf and it
took only around two hours. It was already quite dark when we arrived at the
station and took us ages to find how to get to the hotel. There was also nobody
at the Information Desk, which I found not helpful at all.
Finally, we took the Skytrain, which was quite strange as
this was fully automated and unmanned. You are basically travelling on a train
up above with no one taking control or driving it. It was really weird. I just
had to trust that it was safe and that someone is essentially behind a control
room watching over us.

We decided to stay at the Sheraton Dusseldorf Airport to
avoid any hassle before our flight to Tunisia in the morning.
The location couldn’t be any better. It is basically right
across the airport. The hotel itself is above a car park. It is amazing however
to know that despite it being right in the airport itself, you wouldn’t hear a
single sound at all from your room. Clearly the rooms are very well isolated,
perfect for travelers to have an uninterrupted sleep. Perfect most especially
for light sleepers like me.
I love the breakfast area most especially for the view.
Since the hotel is right on top of a car park, the view if amazing. It is
overlooking the airport and the surrounding area. It snowed a bit whilst we
were there so it looked like the place was sprinkled with confectioners or
fairy dust, depending on how you want to look at it.

The hotel also has a fitness area, a business centre and a
club lounge.
How about you, which airport hotel would you recommend?
Lots of love,
Jo
