Every Tuesday, I am planning to post some tips I picked up
along the way and share them with you. What do you think about calling the
segment “Treasure Tuesday”? Since tips I believe are as valuable as gold, I
find it fitting to call them my treasures.
Given that it was my birthday yesterday, I am going to show you a
cake my husband baked for me.
A few months ago we had a trainee at work and she used to
bake us cake. One of them is Wolkencake, clouds cake when translated from Dutch.
So I asked her what the ingredients were and if she would share the recipe. She
told me it’s from a pack from Dr Oetker. I was surprised as it tasted like one
made from scratch.
As I was so impressed, I asked my husband if he could bake
it for me. I have always been the one baking at home and this time I wondered
if he would actually bake one. So we went to the shop and bought a packet of Wolkencake by Dr Oetker. You might want to know the packet stayed cozy in the
cupboard for quite some time.
To my surprise, one day my husband went into the kitchen
last week and baked the mix and without me asking him! He all did it on his own
will. Wow. I think this is so cute and I really appreciate his gesture.
The cake tasted just like how I remembered it. It was very
light and tasted like vanilla and lemon. You should try it if you could get
this make where you are.
So why I am putting this post on Treasure Tuesday? I think
that baking cake from a packet doesn’t have to be awful. Especially for someone
who has never baked before, staring with something simple such as this would be
a good idea. You can always modify the recipe according to whatever suits your
fancy and make it semi homemade!
Which “semi homemade” would you recommend me to try?
Lots of love,
Jo
